SunBuster® Shooting Glasses:

“HIT!”, says the spotter,
as I line up for the next target. Found it, focus, breathe, squeeze,
BANG! “HIT!” says the spotter once again. Repeat as needed till
I reached the end of the stage. Unload and show clear. Range is safe.
“How were you able to see those targets?” asks the range officer,
“it's so overcast and dreary” he says as he peers over his dark
sunglasses. “I'd like to say it was all me, but I had some help from
my glasses. Its almost not fair to the rest of you guys” What kind
of glasses you got pal?

I've
been asked that very same question from more than 20 people recently.
I'm a competitive shooter, constantly looking for anything that can
give me the edge and the confidence to shoot better. Often times that
means using the products that most everyone else uses. Though I will
admit that on occasion I have used certain products just for the CDI
factor. It is the “Chicks Dig It” factor. You gotta look cool
right? WRONG! It doesn't matter how cool it makes you look if it doesn't
work for you.
I
was first introduced to SunBuster eye wear at the 2007 SHOT show, where
Lisa introduced me to the Maverick(tm) model, which fit my face the best
of any of their shooting line of glasses. She gave me a pair to try
out and told me to get back with her and let her know how they worked.

At
first I was a bit skeptical about how well they would perform, but Lisa
wasn't. She believed that these glasses would provide unsurpassed vision
without damage, distortion and distraction, that she was willing to
put them up against any other glasses out there. I thought she was a
little too sure of herself when she said, you'll stop shooting in your
other glasses. In the back of my mind I was thinking, you either have great
eyewear, or your full of it. I am pleased to say, I was wrong.
The
first time I used these glasses was in a practice session about a week
later. I was pleased with the clarity of the lenses, and how easily
I could swap them out. These glasses are much more comfortable to wear
with ear protection, especially over the ear muffs. They lay much flatter
against my head than the M-Frames. After shooting with the Mavericks
for a day, I knew my Oakley's would be shelved. Looking back, the Oakley's
I had used for years, were a waste of money.
I
don't know about you, but when I pay $100+ for a set of glasses, they
better be comfortable. The SunBusters have it covered. They have the
ability to conform to your head enough to hold them in place, but not
so much that they pinch your head. On the flip side, they stay put under
movement, or when sweat is present
In the tactical training and
3gun matches I compete in, there is a good amount of rigorous movement
involved. Its not only aggravating to loose your glasses, but its also
a safety issue. Using the SunBusters, I don't have to worry about loosing
my eyepro. The lenses are also ANSI rated, so I don't worry about the
safety of my eyes either.
The
SunBusters also come in a hard case with 5 sets of lenses so you can
match your glasses to your environment, and targets. Ranging from Crimson
Brown, Orange, Yellow, Medium Purple and Light Vermillion.
SunBuster features:
- Lightweight and comfortable enough to be worn all day
- Interchangeable lenses to match your environment.
- All lenses meet or exceed ANSI optical standards.
- S-Gard™ scratch resistance coating. A SunBuster special coating keeps annoying and distracting scratches out of sight.
- Comes with zippered, high impact, shell case with divided lens compartments and oversized microfiber cleaning cloth and lanyard
I
prefer colored frames; the lone option of silver frames seems kinda
of limited. SunBuster should look in to making frames in red or white.
I guess I just like to be different.
