Bates M6 Desert Assault Boots
At the 2005 SHOT show in vegas I was given a pair of Bates M6 Desert assault boots to test. Previously, I hadn't had any experience with Bates boots, although I know many men and women in uniform had been wearing them for yrs.
With the War on Terror going on in Iraq, the need for tough, lightweight, breathable boots was there, and Bates answered that call. First things first. These boots are comfortable. I have been wearing them just about everyday for the past yr, and they are far more comfortable than my Rockports. The M-6 Desert Assault Boot is fully equipped with features that help it perform in the most demanding situations. Made of Wolverine Warrior Leather and nylon, the breathable lining helps feet stay cool when temperatures begin to rise. Non-metallic nylon speed lacing and eyelets allow for easy travel through high security environments.
On a personal note, my feet have tendancy to sweat alot. That usually means wet feet in the summer, and cold wet feet in the winter. Not with these M6's. The breath better than any other pair of boots I have had. My feet stay dry and warm in cold weather, and dry and cool iin the hot summers of NC. Even though these boots are not waterproof, I have never gotten wet feet wearing them, even in the rain.
These boots have hiked 50 miles of the Appalachian trail, 2 training classes, numerous 3 gun matches, 4 deer hunts, and a yr of everyday wear, and they still look good. Aside from the normal wear spots, these boots are 100% good to go. Maybe if I am a good boy they will let me have another pair to T&E this yr :)
They also have removable insoles, and the time tested Vibram soles.
