Hunter Pack
Hunter Pack is my real name, but in SASS everyone calls me by my alias “Highfalutin Hunter”. I am the current Single Action Shooting Society World Champion in the Buckaroo Category and also hold the North Carolina State Title in Buckaroos. I have been shooting for 4 years. Shooting is the hobby for me and my family. I have also shot in IDPA events, USPSA events, and small 3-gun events. I practice my shooting 4-5 days per week, in a combination of both non range time and actual live fire. I also train mentally using Larry Bassham’s Mental Management program. I work on my physical fitness by playing junior tennis. I have been home schooled the last 3 years and will enter the 8th grade in September. I will be 14 years old on August 26th. My main shooting partners are my dad and my older brother who shoot competitively in SASS and in other disciplines.
My mom and dad have raised my brother and myself to believe that we are individually responsible for our actions and to consider this in everything we do. Because of this, gun safety is given the highest priority because I was taught that I cannot get back the bullet that has already exited the muzzle. I have introduced several of my non-shooting friends to the sport and have changed their opinions about guns and sport shooting.
The 2nd Amendment in our Constitution upholds an American’s
pre-existing right to possess and bear arms. Personally, it allows me to enjoy
sport shooting and hunting. For my dad and older brother it allows them to also
carry a weapon for the purpose of self defense. As a nation, it guarantees the
people the right to keep and bear arms to insure the freedom of this nation. I
have learned from history that the first step in destroying a people is to take
away their ability to protect themselves. As Americans we must stand guard to
insure that this never happens in America.
